American Standard recently released a new lavatory faucet with an integrated pullout spray. The new addition; “Outreach” is pretty classy looking. It’s clean lined lever handles and simple spout would be at home in either a traditional or contemporary space. Their marketing pitch is “stealing a great idea from the kitchen…makes cleaning the basin or washing your hair much easier”.
I was thrilled when I first saw the faucet, genius and good looking too—until I found out they only offer it in a “mini-spread”/centerset model. How many early adopters are really going to purchase a mini-spread faucet, generally reserved for the severely space challenged vanities?
I had already ID’d a client to spec this out for, imagining wide spread faucets and a matching roman tub set. Isn’t it the tub where you really need that reach for clean ups and when was the last time you washed your hair in the sink? So if anyone is listening at American Standard, take the next step forward, please. The attractive mini-spread is currently available at Home Depot stores only.
